My award-winning short film, LOVE SUICIDES now (temporarily?) online

[Love Suicides] The woman (Kimmy Kiew) is pensive

My short film, LOVE SUICIDES (2009) has also been temporarily uploaded online last month as part of Brazil's Fluxus 2010 - International Film Festival on the Internet, so I decided to allow the folks at GUA to host the short for a while as well.

LOVE SUICIDES is inspired by a short story of the same title by Yasunari Kawabata, it's the first of my three Kawabata-inspired short films (followed by KINGYO and the upcoming THE WHITE FLOWER). It premiered in competition at the Paris Cinema Film Festival 2009, and was also in competition at the Festival internazionale del cinema d’arte 2009 in Italy, Split International Film Festival 2009 in Croatia and Shenzhen's China Mobile Film Festival 2009, in which the short film received a 'Best Director' award. Other film festivals that have screened LOVE SUICIDES include the Cinemanila International Film Festival 2009, Singapore International Film Festival 2010 and the 'O novo Cinema da Malasia' festival Rio De Janeiro and Sao Paulo (held in March).

It has also been selected for competition in next month's Los Angeles Film Festival 2010 (where it finally makes its North American premiere).

SYNOPSIS:Set in an isolated fishing village of Malaysia, a woman´s relationship with her young daughter descends into a path of self-destruction and abuse when she begins to receive a series of strange and mysterious letters from her long-absent husband.
