Location scouting at the beautiful Cameron Highlands

I was continuing the location scouting last week for my film RIVER OF EXPLODING DURIANS, which I'm continuing to shoot in early February after taking nearly a month break. (exciting!)

So, I headed off to Cameron Highlands, which, unbelievably, I've never visited before all my life!

To the uninitiated, Cameron Highlands is one of the few major hill stations in Malaysia, along with Genting Highlands and Fraser's Hill. While Genting is known for its casinos, Cameron Highlands is known for its tea estates, farms, nurseries, waterfalls etc.

Here are some vegetable farms.

Here's a flower nursery.

I rather liked Tringkap, one of the smaller towns in Cameron Highlands, with its traditional food stalls and coffee shops.

I was absolutely captivated by the beauty of the Sungei Palas Boh Tea Plantation.

When I ventured further into the tea fields, the place was covered in mist. I was reminded of Theo Angelopoulos' LANDSCAPE IN THE MIST.
